In addition to manufacturing table ware (plates, cups, bowls, etc.), art pottery (vases and figurines) and sanitary ware (bathtubs, sinks and toilets), Trenton’s industrial potteries produced specialized ceramic objects, as this 1927 advertisement from the Mitchell-Bissell Company demonstrates. The ad, from the front cover of the trade journal Textile World, is for porcelain guides and steps used on textile machinery. Such guides continue to be manufactured today, but not by Mitchell-Bissell, which by the mid-20th century was no longer manufacturing in Trenton.
